2. What Information We Collect
We collect the following personal information when you create an account or use our services:
- Full name
- Mobile phone number
- Email address
- Password (stored as an encrypted hash — we never store your plain-text password)
- Location data — collected only during an active job request to determine your position and dispatch the nearest available operator
- Payment information — billing details are processed and held by Stripe; we do not store your full card number
- Device push notification token — used solely to send job status notifications
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your personal information to:
- Create and manage your membership account
- Dispatch roadside operators to your location during a callout
- Process subscription billing and payments
- Send transactional communications (booking confirmations, receipts, job updates)
- Respond to support enquiries
- Comply with legal and regulatory obligations
We do not use your personal information for unsolicited marketing without your explicit consent.
4. Who We Share Your Information With
We may share your information with:
- Independent operators — your name and location are shared with the assigned operator to fulfil a callout
- Stripe — payment details are shared with Stripe to process subscription charges. Stripe's privacy policy applies to data held by Stripe
- Supabase — your account data is stored on Supabase's secure cloud infrastructure
- Google — location and mapping services are provided by Google Maps Platform
- Insurers — in the case of insurer-billed jobs, relevant job details may be shared with the relevant insurer
- Legal authorities — if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
5. Location Data
Location data is collected only when you actively submit a job request through the app. We use this data solely to show your location to the dispatched operator and to record the service address for billing and support purposes.
Location data is not collected in the background and is not used for advertising or profiling.
6. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely using Supabase, with servers located in the Asia-Pacific region. We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest.
While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, no transmission over the internet is completely secure.
7. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as required to fulfil the purposes described in this policy. If you close your account, we will delete or de-identify your personal information within 90 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g. financial records).
8. Your Rights
Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate or out-of-date information
- Make a complaint if you believe we have breached your privacy

The Breakdown Bandits website uses Stripe's JavaScript library, which may set cookies for payment processing. We may collect anonymous usage analytics to improve the website and app experience. This data is not linked to your identity.
The Breakdown Bandits mobile app does not use cookies.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via the app or by email. Continued use of the service after notification constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
